Scratch Built Lower Fork Clamps for an Old Triumph Bonneville
Most of the bikes I fix don’t belong to people who own machine shops, but when they do, the machine shop owner makes his own parts.
Some old bikes use a clamp attached to the fork lowers to fix the front axle, along with the wheel, to the fork. The Triumph factory back in the 70s built these clamps out of the worst aluminum in the world. The stock parts eventually crack and break.
Instead of buying new ones for wh0-knows-what, the fellow with the Triumph made new ones out of chunks of aluminum. Check these things out:
I reckon he can make just about anything out of aluminum. Or steel. Poly. Brass. I’ve seen some of the other things he makes, and his capabilities far exceed my capacity to understand them.
Here are the clamps on the forks. They fit perfectly:
The fellow can make anything out of anything, just about, and I feel like it’s an honor to help him get his old Brit bike back on the road again.
If you need something made, give me a call. The number is (719) 565-9295.
If you’re cool, I’ll put you in touch with one of the raddest machine shops in Colorado.
